  The Mother K 5k is a memorial walk/run event that will raise money for a scholarship to be given to a Council Grove High School graduate in Katie Gant's name. Description Our mission is to create a family-friendly walk/run event in memory of Katie Buchanan Gant. Katie was just 31 when she was taken from her family and friends too soon, leaving behind a loving husband and three beautiful children. Katie grew up in Council Grove, KS.
All proceeds of this event will go to the Katie Gant Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a Council Grove High School senior or alumnae with preference to those pursuing a degree in health care - just as Katie did. Anyone can participate!   This biathlon begins with a 1500 meter run, then 5 shots at the shooting range in the prone position (lying down) with a .22 rifle at 5 knock down targets. Then a 2000 meter run and re-enter the range to shoot at 5 targets in the standing position. Finally upon exiting the range the runners will run 1500 meters to the finish line. 1. ABOUT THE RACE: Two person teams (adult/kid, kid/kid or adult?adult) race against other teams completing a one mile cross country course with obstacles/challenges that require teamwork. Whether you run, jog, walk or watch, it'll be a Bonding Experience you will never forget. Testimonial: What an awesome day my son and I had. 2. RACE DESCRIPTION:Modeled after the popular television show "THE AMAZING RACE", teams of two people race around a one-mile cross country course in competition with other teams, completing a string of up to eight fun-filled challenges. Clue Cards provided at each station directs teams to perform tasks that focus on team-oriented tasks (games, relays, obstacle course, etc.) before proceeding to the next challenge station. Contestants strive to arrive at the finish line with the fastest overall time to be declared the winners. Waves begin every 10 minutes  kids teams, then adult teams. Challenge stations include varying levels of difficulty, based on age and fitness level of the participants. Teams can choose Recreation or Competitive course. The competitive course  for those looking for a challenge consumes energies equivalent to that of a 5K race.
3. REGISTRATION INFO: Pairs only: adult/kid, kid/kid or adult/adult. Must be 5 years of age or older to participate. Children in Pre-K and Kindergarten must be paired with an adult.
4. GROUP DISCOUNTS: Teachers, military, law enforcement & fire departments, as well as members of Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA, 4-H, BBBS and BGC receive special pricing through the portal only.
5. DONATION EXCHANGE: Help us fight pediatric cancer by donating 2 pairs of used sneakers or running shoes to Max Cure Foundation's Dunk Your Kicks program and receive a free mulligan or time saver token for the race. (
6. RACE DIVISIONS: Race divisions are determined by grade of youngest team member: Grades K-2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-9 and Grades 10-Adult teams.
7. AWARDS: Every team that crosses the finish line gets an award to recognize their accomplishment Medals are presented to the winners of each race division. The top 25 teams, from each city race, qualify for the National Championship Race and $2,000 prize!

Course information If you've run in these hills before as a training run, you know how beautiful and challenging they are. If you've never been out here, you are in for a treat!
The race starts near the east edge of Kingman at the Covenant Assembly of God Church. Indoor/outdoor space with restrooms, rest areas, and vendor tents will cater to every runner participating. The start line will be on the east edge of the church parking lot and will head east for a brief stretch through town before heading into the beautiful rural areas of Kingman County. Maps are posted to our Facebook page with aid station locations marked. Think Kansas is flat? Think again. The road quickly turns to red dirt where you'll encounter challenging, never ending hills. The hills are difficult, but the beautiful vistas and country scenery are second to none!

  The Kansas Road Mile Championship presented by Kansas Spine and Specialty Hospital is designated as the Kansas 1-Mile State Championship race by the USATF. It will be presented by GoRun Wichita and held on November 9th, 2014 at Towne East Square in Wichita. The races will be run on a USATF certified flat single loop course. All results will be sent to the Kansas Road Running Records. A fun event for all ability levels! There will also be $3400 in total prize money available in the Elite and Masters divisions, as well as age group awards in the Open division. Place : Memorial Stadium at the University of Kansas, Lawrence , KS

  Hosted by the KU Veterans Alumni Chapter and the KU Collegiate Veterans Association.  The run will start and end at Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Kansas.  The route will take runners past the five Veterans Memorials on campus, as well as Pioneer Cemetery where 13 Civil War soldiers are buried and there is a monument to the Unknown Soldiers of the Civil War.
 Our run benefits:
- KU's Wounded Warrior Scholarship Fund, which has awarded $60,000 since 2013
- KU Collegiate Veterans Association, which represents nearly 700 student veterans attending KU.

  This second annual event is sponsored by the Kansas Ultrarunners' Society. Run an easy (USATF certified) 1.232 mile unpaved trail/path at Buffalo Park (450 N. Maize Rd.) in west Wichita, for 6, 12 or 24 hours. The course is almost completely flat and is a great place to set a personal time and/or distance record! How many miles can you run in 6, 12 or 24 hours? It's up to you! Ultramarathon buckles for those who can run 50K in 6 hours, 50 miles in 12 hours, and 100 miles in 24 hours. All three events start at 7am. Long-sleeve shirts for all entrants. One stocked aid-station will be provided and easy drop bag access for runners.

  A community run benefiting the Girls on the Run of Sedgwick County's Scholarship Fund. Anyone who has been to a Girls on the Run 5k knows that it is unlike any other running event. First and foremost, it is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a three month season of Girls on the Run programming. This race is open to men and women, runners and walkers of all fitness levels and ages! All participants receive a GOTR 5k Finisher's Medal and Girls on the Run Beanie Hat.
