I hope that
you're not one of those who put off buying that warm running gear. The run last
night was quite pleasant if you had enough clothes on except for the wind and
slick roadways. Ah, yes, winter in Kansas.
The 2nd of the First Gear XC Series
is this Saturday, info at www.runwichita.org. No other races in the
area until the Frosty 5 on New Years Day.
Don't forget, the Derby Running
Club's Christmas Party is on Friday, Dec. 18, at High Park----light run starts
at 6:30 pm and the eating festivities start at 7:15, Circuit Awards and door
prizes will follow. All are welcome to join us---non-members pay $2 for plenty
of pizza, drinks, desserts and other food plus door prizes. Will give you exact
directions to High Park next week.
There appears to be a lot of runners heading
to Dallas this weekend to do the annual White Rock Marathon/Half so that
combined with the XC Race (above) means that the group at Health Strategies on
Saturday at 7:00 am will be less than usual. Those remaining are welcome to join
the group in the parking lot at 551 N. Hillside----cold running is always easier
with a group.
The Sunday Derby Group will meet at the corner of Madison &
Woodlawn in downtown Derby at 7:30 am for a 10 miler. Some will be nursing those
sore legs from Vegas (yes, sore legs happen in Vegas; but, they don't stay
there). You are welcome to join Ken and his group, water at the 5 mile mark.
The
Wed Nite Group will meet at First Gear at 6:00 pm for a run though the area,
most run 5-9 miles. You are welcome to join them.
The Thu Nite Group will meet
at the North Chisholm Creek Park at 5:45 pm for a 5 miler on the K-96 Path. You
are welcome to join the group. The park is north of K-96 on the west side of
Woodlawn.
Have some good runs, keep warm. Best of luck to those heading south to
Dallas---much warmer there, I presume.
