One race in the
area this weekend and its one of the best. The Easter Sun Run 10k & 2 Mile
is in Sedgwick County Park this Saturday (Apr. 3). Fast course, good food
afterwards. If you need a 10k to check your fitness for the River Run (just over
a month away), this would be a good one.
No race in town next week; but, a
couple within easy driving distance. The Eisenhower Marathon in Abilene, which
always attracts a couple of Ponytails, is next Saturday (10th) at 7:00 am. They
have a half, 10k & 5k if those distances appeal to you.
The Leadership Road
Race 5k is in Winfield next Sunday (11th) at 2:00 pm. More info on these races
at www.runwichita.org.
The Link for
Life Zoo Run 5k is at the Sedgwick County Zoo on Sat, the 17th.
The Emma Creek
Classic 5k is on the 24th. I believe that every female runner has heard of this
race and their fabulous awards ceremony and most of the women in the area have
ran it at least once.
The following day is the Wichita Half Marathon in
Riverside Park. Check the above website often as new races are added as the info
is received from race directors.
Chips have been slow coming to Wichita; but,
there will be several this year including the Easter Sun Run & the Wichita
Half above.
I would expect a small group at Health Strategies on Saturday at
7:00 am due to the popularity of the Sun Run. If you're not racing, you're
welcome to join what's left of the group in the parking lot at 551 N. Hillside.
The Sunday Derby Group will meet at 7:30 am at the corner of Madison &
Woodlawn in downtown Derby for a 10 miler. All are welcome to join Ken and his
group. Always an interesting course and water at the 5 mile.
The First Gear
Racing Team will meet at 6:30 pm on Wed at the Friends U. Track. All team
members are encouraged to participate in the track workouts. A good group
welcomed the 85 degree weather last night.
The Thu Nite Group will meet at 5:45
pm at the Chisholm Creek Park/Nature Center for a 5 miler on the K-96 Path. All
are welcome to join the group. Enter the park from the east side of Oliver
between K-96 and 29th St. (directly across from the Rainbows Center) and follow
the park road to the big parking lot.
Have some good runs and enjoy our ever
changing Kansas Weather.
